Information Technology Administration

EMPHASIS IN PERSONAL COMPUTER ADMINISTRATION


Program Length

This program offers 39 semester credit hours.

Program Description

The Personal Computer Administration program provides students with the concepts, techniques and tools necessary to install, configure, remove, and troubleshoot personal computer and laptops components. Student will understand the principles of networking and basic diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques; understand basic security principles and security software, troubleshoot security issues. Emphasis will also be placed on skills and knowledge required to pass the A+ Certification Exam.

Work Places

Work places include businesses in the public and private sectors, including for profit and not for profit organizations. The specific duties of a personal computer administrator-- a person employed to install, configure, remove, and troubleshoot personal computer and laptops components-- will often vary from office to office due to office size, location, and specialty.

Professional Preparation

Specific program objectives are designed to provide graduates with knowledge and techniques and tools to understand the concepts of, and troubleshoot problems with laptops, peripherals and networks connections, recognize the fundamentals of operating system technologies and the basic procedures involved in installing and upgrading operating systems, understand the role of security in an organization, the importance of following safety and environmental guidelines, communicate with customers in a professional manner.
