EMPHASIS IN NETWORK SYSTEM MANAGEMENT


Program Length

This program offers 39 semester credit hours.

Program Description

The program in Network System Management provides students with a conceptual overview of networks, focusing on hardware, topographies and network operating systems. Network communication is presented at the conceptual level. Practical experiences provide to student include the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks. This program includes basic mitigation of security threats.

Work Places

Work places include businesses in the public and private sectors, including for profit and not for profit organizations. The specific duties as entry level Network System Manager --an information technology professional who oversees the implementation and administration of computer and telecommunication networks for an organization-- will often vary from office to office due to office size, location, and specialty.

Professional Preparation

Specific program objectives are designed to provide graduates with an understanding of network concepts. The graduate of this program will have gained practical experience and ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks. The graduate will be able to deal with basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and performance based skills.
